Fluid Stills® Division Overview

TransLumen Technologies, LLC’s Fluid Stills® Art Illusions trick the eye into seeing a still image when in fact the eye is seeing an evolving stream of imperceptibly different images. This temporal art form is (r)Evolutionary time-based art that employs unobtrusive video, imparting imperceptible change to a series of images in an evolving subthreshold ultra-slow motion flux.

With their pictorial roots, the pieces produced in this manner can be very fluid yet non-disruptive when used as ambient art. The pieces are a part of the "video art installation" and "video painting" genres. Each frame has all of the qualities of a photograph, painting or other piece of still art while the work as a whole embodies the temporal flow of the motion picture.

These images are perhaps best "looked at as one would a still image" with the occasional glance, gaze or more prolonged perusal rather than "watched like a movie." Fluid Stills® Art Illusions is the first new art form to specifically target flat panel, large format, widescreen, high definition, TVs and other displays.

Advertising

TransLumen’s Fluid Stills® was made for advertising.   By using Fluid Stills ® in advertising, any type of  electronic screen can project a dynamic, visually stunning,  art image that at first glance appears to be a still picture, but changes over-time. 

Fluid Stills® can help an advertiser literally exploit the concept of Multiple Impression Persistent Media.  This concept is based on displaying a number of unique images/ad views in the same display face, but in a smooth, constant and visually stunning manner.  It is especially effective when consumers are in a waiting/idle state, such as while waiting for a bus, in traffic, in a public space or in a room such as a restaurant, nightclub, hospital, lobby or sports arena.  More importantly, it is a money maker.  In terms of benefits:

Gaming

The UAV Fighter is the 1st in a TransLumen series of gaming products.  Currently available for use with Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch products, the UAV Fighter is a realistic blend of gaming and "real world" simulation of the operation of un-manned aerial vehicles (UAV) in various military situations.

Consumer Art

 TransLumen has a growing catalog of art that can be purchased through Amazon.com.  It includes translumenized images of digital art work, DVDs and TransLumen’s latest, the Long Glance Media Showcase - a DVD series featuring the convergence of digital ambient art and music.  The 1st in the series is called Ever Ever On.

Commercial and Public Art

TransLumen’s Fluid Stills® products are essentially digital canvases.  The only boundaries on what professional artists and graphic designers can do with Fluid Stills® technology are the limits of their imaginations.  Because Fluid Stills® visually transforms still images into video, the combinations of that with music, audio narratives, text and multiple images are infinite.

But, in terms of public art, Fluid Stills® can be used to add one practical and another extremely important dimension – the ability to include advertising and the ability to convey public service and public safety messages.  This is in addition to being able to create art that is environmentally ambient – meaning it can become a part of or enhance a public vista, not overwhelm it or distract from it. 

For example, a piece of digital art work within a park could also post the logos of hospitality industry sponsors that appear unobtrusively along the screen real estate.  That same piece of digital art work could also announce traffic problems, Amber Alerts or weather advisories by a simple change at a remote control center.

Wise Widgets

One of TransLumen’s newest products is Wise Widgets™ - a “cutting edge” advertising tool.  It allows the advertiser to use typically dormant electronic screen real estate as the above demo illustrates.  TransLumen’s Wise Widgets™ can be used on a digital billboard, a kiosk, public and private signage, public art, a video game or a Smart Phone screen.

The product adds value in the following ways:

• Allows the creation of branded Wise Widgets® for an advertiser;
• Can be used to project logos that will trigger customized alerts (i.e. special events, sales, coupons, etc);
• Can be used to create “Where’s Waldo” type ads with minimal visual annoyance; and

Pix Mix

eVoPic™ is a tool for photographers to translumenize their digital photos for personal photo albums, social media home pages, corporate presentations and art displays.

eVoPic™ is a product evolved from the Subthreshold Extreme Gradual Change technology that is the basis for TransLumen’s Fluid Stills® Division.  All you have to do is take a photo using a digital camera or phone, pick a translumenization visual effect and upload it to the eVoPic™. You will receive a unique Fluid Still® video for display on your TV, computer or mobile device.
